"Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life;
rather look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are, will lead you through all things."
- from a prayer, "Be at Peace" by St. Frances de SalesOur personal devotional time has lead us to declare that "Nothing is impossible with God" Luke 1:37. And so our confidence in God continues to swell. Monday morning of this week God put a song on my heart, "Nothing is too Difficult for Thee . . ." You may know it:
Ah, Lord God, Thou has made the heavens
and the earth by Thy great power;
Ah, Lord God, Thou has made the heavens
and the earth by Thine outstretched arm.
Nothing is too difficult for Thee. Nothing is too difficult for Thee.
Great and mighty God, Great in counsel and mighty in deed.
Nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing,
nothing is too difficult for Thee.
Later, God lead me to John 14:13 "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father." While I have often claimed the first part, God impressed on my heart the second. God's answers to our prayers are for his glory. I want my prayers to come into line with the purposes of God's Kingdom.
And God continues to open the doors!
- Monday evening we had supper with a delightful Nigerian family, Silas and Binta Dauji and their daughter Lisa. Silas has been a student at the local Lutheran Seminary and has been serving as interim pastor at Fairhaven Mennonite Church in Fort Wayne since January. They are returning to Nigeria at the end of the school year, June 2009. Jos is their home community. As a matter of fact Silas is a good friend of the provost, Obed Dashan, at the Gindiri College of Theology. Silas also has brother who is currently study on the college campus. What a gift to us. God is good!
- In addition, we discovered that Silas is shipping a container to Nigeria next week. He blessed us with the offer to take a couple of boxes for me! Can you believe it? I will be sending some library books which I would have had difficulty carrying with us when we go in February. What a delightful surprise. God is so good!
- Tuesday night the Leo-Cedarville Town Council agreed to accept the easement offer of a street right of way which we have intended to give them (so that they assume responsibility for the street in front of our house). It is a long story, but simply that we thought this was a done deal but discovered recently that it wasn't and that it presented problems for the realtor in listing our house. So that hurdle is past. Another answer to prayer. God is so very good!
Thank you for your prayer support!
