Of course that is not new information. All of our days are numbered. But the title of this blog must change.
We are blessed to announce that our house sold this week! ! ! ! Thank you for your prayer support all these months. It is becoming clearer why it didn't sell three months ago.
Our purchasers are a local family who first looked at the house before Christmas. Some of their uncertainties have been stabilized. They gave us a reasonable offering (particularly in this economy) and their timeline is very flexible since they will not be able to move until mid-August. They offered to buy immediately and then allow us to rent as long as we want. We made a counter offer regarding the timeline that takes advantage of the available time and gives a large window for our future.
Last time I indicated that we are making some progress in our journey through this wilderness. As I indicated in that blog message, on Sunday, March 8, the search committee made our names public as candidates for pastoral leadership at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church near Smithville, Ohio. Oak Grove is a dual affiliated congregation with both the Ohio and Central District conferences.
Friday and Saturday we are scheduled to meet various groups (staff, leadership, committees and Sunday School classes) and then I will preach on Sunday morning, March 29. A noon meal will be followed with a question and answer period, all a part of the candidating weekend. The members of the congregation will vote on the first Sunday of April regarding extending us a call.
Since the Oak Grove church is about twenty minutes north of Apple Creek, we will be staying with Sherah-Leigh and BJ over the weekend. What a bonus and what a blessing.
Thank you for your continuing prayers.
